Jagannath Rath Yatra
The Lord comes out onto the road
At Puri, Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra leave the temple on three great chariots and are pulled through the streets by the crowd. It is the one festival built on the idea that the divine comes out to those who cannot come in.

A recommended mantra for this sacred day
Nilachala Nivasaya is the pranam offered to the Lord of the blue hill alongside Balabhadra and Subhadra — the same three who ride the chariots.
